Green techniques at M Hartman

The Government try to promote guidelines on how to make a home more energy efficient.
From supplying grants to insulating a property to cutting levys on solar panels.
At M Hartman Construction we try to incorporate green technologies into our property building schemes.

We have experience in Photovoltaic solar panels, rain water harvesting, mechanically ventilated heat recovery(mvhr), air source pumps and green roofing. We use responsible products and have worked with Conker Conservation architects who specialise in responsible construction.

Solar Panels

We have experience in supplying photovoltaic and heating solar panels to new builds and renovations. Primarily the reason for adding these is to harness the power of the sun and generate your own Electricity and heating.

In instances of Photovoltaic panels being used, the home consumes any electricity generated first; before potentially selling unused electricity back to the grid. This lowers bills and could potentially pay you an annual income as well!

Produce your own clean and renewable power source. Not only will you be saving energy and reducing you carbon footprint, but you could find yourself saving or even making money too!

Mechanically Ventilated Heat Recovery (MVHR)

At least 20% of your heating energy is lost through 'natural' ventilation; trickle vents in windows, extractor fans in wet rooms, open doors or other gaps in the building fabric. By sealing up the leaks and making your property more airtight, the flow of air can be more effectively controlled.

The Mechanical Ventilation system uses super efficient fans to feed fresh filtered air into live, work and sleep areas; at the same time pulling moist air from kitchens, bathrooms and other indoor wet areas. The pressure differential gently controls the direction of the flow to provide fresh air where you need it.

The Heat Exchanger inside the MVHR then recovers up to 90% of the warmth from the stale air before it leaves the building, transferring it from the old air to the new. You get fresh filtered air throughout your home without the excessive heat loss associated with traditional extract ventilation.

Rain Water Harvesting

Harvesting rainwater has become a serious consideration for all new build or refurbishment projects. Architects and builders understand the importance of specifying rainwater harvesting systems to make houses more sustainable and to reduce the cost of running a home.

More and more people are capturing their own rainwater – to make sure they have enough for their needs at a price they can afford and at the same time minimise their impact on the environment.

Rainwater harvesting can provide around 50 per cent of a family's water needs. This not only saves water, but saves money and reduces our impact on the environment.

Green Roofing

New buildings in particular tend to remove wildlife habitats, but by extending the amount of green space available to wildlife when undertaking a new build the environmental footprint of the development can be reduced. Retro-fitting an existing building with a living roof takes this benefit a step further.

A living roof is essentially a very thick layer of insulation, helping to cool buildings in the summer and to keep heat in in the winter. This insulation helps to lower heating bills and keep your home warmer for longer
